Navigating Still Water

Mixed media on cradled panel
20” H x 16” W
1.5” natural wood edges

Description

This lovely work of fine art by accomplished artist Diane Williams was created with mixed media on a natural-wood cradled panel. Navigating Still Water is part of her Gesturing the Void series that exhibits bold, confident strokes similar to those perfected by the Chinese masters. Williams explains her inspiration for this work:

“There are images of lotus flowers hiding beneath the surface in this painting. ‘Navigating the void’ is a term I use to describe the meditative state of painting. When I paint abstractly there is no point of reference, which feels like navigating a kind of void. The hidden lotus flowers – that rise above and sink below still waters – give me and the viewer a way to enter the work.”

With 1.5” deep natural wood edges, Navigating Still Water is wired and ready to hang. It also works nicely grouped with other works in the series, including Dancing the Ancestors, Folding Paper, Dancing Brush, Golden Lotus, Jumping over the Broom and Spring Thaw. Alone or in a group, Navigating Still Water will bring elegance, peace and intrigue to your world.
