Description

Knotted In The Living Sugar Of Its Trunk is part of William’s Aegean Archipelago series influenced by her travels and study in Skopelos. The translucent nature of cold wax echos the depth of the ancient history of Greece. The oil paints are alive with the nature of minerals and pigments which emit their own energy.

Williams adds, “The first time I opened my eyes in the Aegean Sea, I was one with the fishes, stones and salt. Boundaries were illusions, and I became water.”

Knotted In The Living Sugar Of Its Trunk is based on layers of paint and wax coming together as delicate veils of light. Painted with scrapers and braye, texture is one of the exciting characteristics of cold wax.

This artwork is painted on a custom-built wooden panel with painted 2-inch edges. Knotted In The Living Sugar Of Its Trunk presents beautifully unframed – though can be easily framed –
and is ready to hang.
