LBJ’s Rocking Chair

This painting was created on the grounds of the LBJ Ranch in Stonewall, Texas where I was a guest for a day of painting. I chose this subject because of its historical significance, as the rocking chair appears in many well-known images of Lyndon B. Johnson during his time at the ranch. The chair also embodies the relaxed welcoming spirit of the Texas Hill Country and has become an iconic symbol of country life. Through this painting, I sought to capture both the history and quiet charm of this memorable place.
