Description

Artful Galleries is excited to offer this vibrant and playful collage by new artist Judith Rohrer. Reclining Figures is a square mixed-media collage depicting the torsos of a male and female sunbather, and exhibits the bold colors and patterns characteristic of Rohrer’s works. It is part of Rohrer’s most recent series exploring the female form. She explains:

“I love playing with color as it interacts with abstract shapes and lines, exploring the juxtaposition of shapes with splashes of fluid color. In this series, I use the female form to explore the abstract possibilities of color and lines. There is an interaction between ‘abstract’ color/shapes and the forms that the mind defines. Eventually boundaries disappear between abstract and conceptual and what emerges are light, space and form in their spontaneous yet orderly way. My collages incorporate acrylics, graphite, watercolor, colored pencils, fabric, photos, hand-made paper, found objects and other odds and ends.”

Reclining Figures image is 21” x 21” and was rendered on 140 lb watercolor paper that is 25.5” H x 25.5” W paper, ideal for future framing purposes. Reclining Figures is unframed and shipped in a tube.
