Gypsy With Fan by Terry Gay Puckett was inspired by a trip to Spain and a visit to the gypsies in the caves of Granada. Terry explains, “This exotic flamenco dancer enticed me to make a quick sketch, which later became a portrait in enamel. She holds a fan, a typical element of adornment in Spain, and a popular tourist souvenir. It is a bold design with enamel on metal with a black, white and pale blue background, accents of red and a touch of real gold foil in the earring.”
Gypsy With Fan was made with vitreous enamel, a powdered glass colored with oxides and fused into metal at an extremely high temperature. It is framed in a silver-leaf framed from Mexico, wired and ready to hang.
