Artist Statement:
“In faux-stained glass acrylic paintings I explore the glowing effects of light and color with their luminous gradations. Through patterning with stencils, stamps and mark making I add texture variations suggesting the specialized glass Louis Comfort Tiffany’s workshop created for his astonishing stained glass landscapes such as the 1905, “A Wooded Landscape in Three Panels,” (MFA Houston). Landscape and plant forms of all kinds are perfect subject matter because nature displays color and peace in every season. In addition to nature and stained glass, other influences for these acrylic paintings include Islamic mosaic patterns, quilts and fiber arts. I enjoy working with a touch of whimsy and curiosity. When viewers stop to enjoy these paintings I hope they will smile and recall a happy memory.”
